LSU Rural Life Museum and Windrush Gardens, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

In the late 1840's, John Charles Burden emigrated from England, leaving his ancestral home of Whitney, located on the Windrush River. By the early 1850's, he had settled in Baton Rouge. Windrush Plantation was developed by John Charles Burden, his wife, Emma, and their children and grandchildren.
