The Holden House

Rougon, Louisiana

The Holden House is of a house type that is becoming very rare in Louisiana. It is the only document house left in the state with the "Ste. Genevieve roof" (a hip roof with a major break in pitch half way up to the ridge line). Research tells us that this roof shape was in abundance across Louisiana Landscape at one time. This house has extreme significance for Louisiana because it is a ca. 1790 raised Creole cottage with the Ste. Genevieve hip roof.
