Austerlitz Plantation

State Highway 1, Oscar Vicinity, Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana

Austerlitz Plantation was built around 1832-36 by Joseph Decuir, a free man of color. It is situated on 1800 acres of land purchased from the Indians by Decuir's father in 1783 on Fausse Riviere (False River), a wide oxbow lake in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana.
